The clear hard plastic seemed great. I've never had a hard time closing or opening them, perhaps the other reviewer had a dud batch? The problem with these is that they break! I'm not just talking about dropping them or heating them too much in the microwave. I've never even put them in the freezer or dishwasher, but every one of them broke on me. I just threw the last one in the recycle bin and so thought I'd write a review for them. The square ones tend to break across the base and the small round ones lids break easily.

It is true though - not one of them stained in any way. And they look great - until cracked. They also feel like they are high quality. Perhaps they would be useful if you were very, very careful with them and only used them for taking food out places, like to potluck dinners. But even then you would need to be careful because if you drop them they will probably break.
After all the ones I bought breaking within about 8 months I must say that I really regreted purchasing them.
The only other thing I really liked about these was that the middle size containers all use the same size lids. That was very nice.
